The Relic Hunting Tradition

Throughout the lands of Melvor lie ancient remnants of fallen civilizations, forgotten deities, and mystical epochs. In Melvor Idle 2, these artifacts have been codified into the Ancient Relics & Lore Codex system.

Unlike standard equipment that must be manually slotted into an armor slot (competing with defensive plate or damage accessories), Ancient Relics provide permanent account-wide passive modifiers. Once discovered and cataloged in the Royal Museum, their benefits remain permanently active across all your activities.

Relic hunting serves as the ultimate long-term aspirational goal, tying together exploration from our Quests & Story Guide with high-level gathering and combat mastery.

How to Maximize Relic Discovery Rates

While discovering relics relies on RNG procs during routine gameplay, you can significantly accelerate your discovery odds by stacking specific multipliers:

  1. Equip the Archaeologist's Monocle: Earned from the beginner chain in our Early Game Quest Order Guide, this pocket tool provides a flat +5% relic proc multiplier.
  2. Utilize Astrology Stardust Buffs: Rerolling constellations (specifically the Ameria and Terra clusters) grants up to +8% bonus artifact finding chances during non-combat actions.
  3. Drink Tier IV Luck Potions: When grinding high-speed actions (such as Normal Trees or Copper Ore), active Luck Potions double the chance of pulling rare tertiary table drops.
  4. Target High-Level Quest Encounters: Defeating the storyline bosses detailed in our Quest Bosses Guide awards guaranteed relic fragments that cannot be obtained through standard grinding.

Codex Milestone Set Bonuses

As you deposit relics into the Royal Museum, your Codex level increases, unlocking tiered account synergies:

  • 5 Relics Archived: Unlocks the Scholar's Insight perk (+2% Global XP multiplier across all skills).
  • 10 Relics Archived: Unlocks +15 Permanent Bank Slots and +5% Master Token drop rates.
  • 20 Relics Archived: Unlocks the Primal Aegis passive (+3% Damage Reduction and +50 Maximum HP).
  • All 35 Relics Archived (Grand Exhibition): Unlocks the Mythic Title Lorekeeper of Melvor and grants a permanent -0.3s action speed reduction to every gathering skill.

[!TIP] Never ignore low-tier gathering skills once you reach high levels! Because relic drop rolls occur on every action tick regardless of node level, rapidly chopping fast Normal Trees (1.5s interval) yields far more relic discovery rolls per hour than chopping slow Magic Trees (4.0s interval).
